Sports Rehabilitation in Carrollton, TX

Rehabilitation is a term that refers to a variety of therapeutic techniques to help individuals regain or improve their physical function. This can refer to improvements in strength or conditions, range of motion measures, post-surgical care, reduction in swelling or edema, improvement in flexibility, improvement in mobility, improvement in specific daily activities, or even assistance in return to sport.

Here at Elevation Spine & Sports Medicine, Dr. Konner himself is a highly skilled sports medicine practitioner and a talented competitive athlete himself. He's well-versed in what it takes to keep you in the game and will perform a thorough baseline assessment/examination and diagnose what is going on. Once a diagnosis is determined, Dr. Konner will develop a treatment plan and begin treating what is needed in combination with the rehabilitation to make improvements subjectively and improvements that are objective that we can track as well.

Rehabilitation can also be referred to as active care because it typically results in the individual performing the rehab to be actively doing it themselves.

Elevation Isn't Like Other Sports Chiropractors...

At Elevation Spine & Sports Medicine, the provider will prescribe individualized rehabilitation programs for patients after their first visit in combination with their treatments to help patients reach their goals. Dr. Konner also provides Athletic Training and Return to Sport Programs for athletes to assist with safe return to practice, games, or competitions. We also offer Exercise-Related Pain Programs with 1-hour one-on-one sessions that combine treatment and specific rehabilitation programs.

What's the Difference Between Sports Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy?

While physical therapy and sports rehabilitation are similar, the main differences between the two are the education of the practitioner, the types of patients, and the types of treatments provided.

Education - A physical therapist requires a degree called a DPT, a doctor of physical therapy. Sports rehabilitation therapists tend to have more specific backgrounds and/or additional training in sports medicine, sports science, or athletic training.

Patients - Physical therapists tend to treat all types of patients, young and old, able-bodied and disabled, in-patient and out-patient, etc. They treat patients to help manage chronic illness or pain and improve strength and flexibility...whereas sports rehabilitation tends to focus more on athletes or patients with specific sports injuries with a goal of getting back to a point where they were before an injury.

Treatment - Physical therapists treat with general therapies employed to help strengthen and manage pain or illness. Sports rehabilitation treat with more specific and advanced exercises, usually to return to a sport.

Konner is THE BEST! I am a physical therapist so I am a bit picky when it comes to getting treatment for myself. Konner, looks at the FULL picture, hears what you are saying and does everything he can to make you better. I am so lucky to have someone I can count on to help with anything that comes up. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
