What are Myofascial Trigger Points?
Myofascial trigger points are areas within muscle tissue that tend to develop due to several potential factors such as posture, increased stress on the area, repetitive trauma to the area, muscle weakness, or due to compensation patterns. Myofascial trigger points are usually areas that have an increased amount of neurological activity and can feel like a "knot" within a muscle and can typically create a twitch response or pain referral pattern when pressure is placed upon them.

How can Chiropractic care be helpful?
Soft tissue work such as dry needling is very effective for reducing myofascial trigger points within muscle tissue along with manual therapy and other soft tissue modalities to alleviate symptoms associated with myofascial trigger points. Postural restoration and rehabiliation exercises can be helpful as well to improve strength of the muscle tissue.
