Chiropractor & Physical Therapist for Impingement Syndrome Treatment in Carrollton, TX

Impingement syndrome refers to soft tissue getting compressed due to biomechanical problems, which usually results in pain. Impingement syndrome is very common in the shoulder referring to the superior rotator cuff (supraspinatus tendon) or the long head of the biceps tendon getting compressed repeatedly with overhead motions by the acromion process of the shoulder as they travel through subacromial space.

What are the Symptoms of Impingement Syndome?

This typically results in sharp pain or a pinch in the front or top of the shoulder. There can also be pain in the back of the shoulder as well if there is a posterior impingement syndrome. It can be difficult to perform overhead motions, or shoulder internal and external rotation due to the pain and it may limit shoulder range of motion due to pain. It can also result in some swelling or popping in the area as well. Weakness can be a result of pain when trying to go through overhead movements with the arm.

How Can a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist Help with Impingement Syndrome?

Chiropractic treatment and physical therapy for shoulder pain experienced as a result of Impingement Syndrome has been shown to be very effective. Some treatments that your chiropractor or physical therapist may try are shockwave therapydry needling, myofascial release, manual therapy, cupping, and soft tissue manipulation

Specific rehabilitation exercises for this are helpful as well. These are used to stabilize the shoulder around the rotator cuff and biceps tendon and to help teach proper movement patterns or biomechanics of the shoulder complex to reduce the impinging the soft tissues during those aberrant movements.

While physical therpy will guide you through shoulder rehabilitation and targeted strengthening exercises, manual therapy, and progressive load management to encourage long-term relief and proper ergonomics.

At Elevation, we are able to use a combination of these to help your shoulder pain improve quickly.
